Duplicating slices
You can create a duplicate slice with the same dimensions and optimization settings as the original. If the original slice is a linked user slice, the duplicate is linked to the same collection of linked slices. For more information, see Linking slices (ImageReady). Duplicate slices are always user slices, regardless of whether the original is a user slice, a layer-based slice, or an auto slice.
In ImageReady, you can also copy and paste slices within or between documents.
To duplicate a slice:
- Select a slice. (In ImageReady, you can select multiple slices.)
- Alt-drag (Windows) or Option-drag (Mac OS) from inside the selection.
To duplicate a slice using the Web Content palette (ImageReady)
- Select a slice in the Web Content palette.
- Choose Slices > Duplicate Slice or Duplicate Slice from the palette menu. (See Using the Web Content palette.)
- In the Duplicate Slice dialog box, select from the following options:
- Duplicate Rollover States to maintain any rollover states associated with the original slice
- Duplicate Layers for Layer-Based Slices to duplicate a layer associated with a layer-based slice
- From the position menu, choose an option for the position of the duplicate slice. The duplicate slice will adjoin the original slice in the position indicated. If the duplicate slice extends beyond the edge of the document, it will be truncated.
- Click OK.
To copy and paste a slice (ImageReady):
- Select one or more slices with the Slice Select tool.
- Choose Copy Slice from the Edit menu.
- If you want to paste into another image, open and display that image.
- Choose Paste Slice from the Edit menu. If you paste the slice into the same image as you copied it from, the pasted slice appears on top of the original.
The Copy Slice and Paste Slice commands have the same keyboard shortcuts as the regular Copy and Paste commands.
